How to graft Mammillaria luethyi

Well, at least 3 out of 5 Mammillaria luethyi grafts made it (I think haha well they're more than 2 weeks old now and have not rotted so I think it's safe to say yes).

Rootstocks used: Myrtillocactus and Harrisia.
Method used : regular horizontal cut.
Pressure medium : tape
Weather: 3 grafts sunny day; 2 grafts nightime - cold

Note on luethyi cambium:
it's quite visible(white color) and is not very small after all.

Note on the cause of failed graft:
Fungus. The root stock had visible fungus marks on the 2nd day. I think it really is best to graft on a sunny day. During its 1st day, I saw moist/water droplets on the tape.

Special Notes: I would advise that the scion should NEVER be wrapped around by any means at it might cause condensation which will result to having infections.

What is this all about?!

I'm on a journey to grafting cacti and I'd like to invite all of you to join me. This blog will keep track of my grafting skills and will serve as an inventory and progress report on all my grafting projects. Cacti are grafted for many reasons and by theory they are done mainly for propagation. I was under that impression but as time goes by, as I've successfully grafted some, it seems that it's more than propagation. Let's all find it out!
